Much to our surprise, At this Marina Del Rey home automation installation, We've stumbled upon one of home automation system's earliest predecessors. The Home Manager, manufuctured by Unity in California installed a few dozens luxury homes during the 80'-90's. Don't let that old schoole ATM looking touchscreen(!) confuse you, (top left photo). The home automation system in Marina Del Rey's luxurious estate was very capable and featured lighting, climate, security and audio systems control, that back in the day has been mostly seen in the movies. During the remodel we've replaced the Home Manager by Unity with a new Crestron home automation system. The old system still partly functioned, and I felt honored to pull the plug for the last time on that piece of history. Now, our client can control home on the go from the app on their phone or tablet and also from the slick new touchscreen on the wall.
Our client familiarity with a home automation system and its advantages, allocated a closet space where all of their gear is professionally situated in a metal rack to extend electronics longevity.
The lighting control installation in Marina Del Rey's classic house didn't require the tear down of the Venetian plastered walls. We've simply replaced the existing dimmers and switches with smart ones of Crestron's. Although our client family lived in the house during installation, no inconvenience caused by it as the Crestron lighting system work right out of the box.
